Multicultural Literature Week of August 25-29


Warm up

Multicultural literature Vocabulary Match up TPCAST    Journal-Students will listen to an news clip from NPR and write a six sentence response

 Class Session

Notes on Gender Lens Discussion Role Activity- In assigned groups, students will analyze text for symbolism, vocabulary, observations and questions that support a gender lensed analysis of the text. Identity Poll-Students work in collaborative groups to create ten survey questions that explore how different genders, ethnic groups and ages believe identity is created. Students will administer surveys to classes in the Betty Grey Building Students will analyze results and write a one page explanation of the results they have collected. Students will present the findings from their identity poll.

 Closing

Charades/ Improvisation/Role Play Have students engage in dramatic creations that summarize the learning.  TBA
